Supported configurations
The device needs to come with the following features:
- Android 5.1
- Root access for apps (SuperSU)
- Built-in Wi-Fi adapter
Prerequisites
You'll need a keyboard or a mouse to control the player during the installation process. Plug it in to one of the bottom USB ports on the player.
You'll also need a FAT32 formatted USB stick with the SignageLAB Core App APK file. You can download the latest Core App APK for Giada here (opens in a new tab).
Installation steps
- Connect keyboard or mouse
- Connect to the internet (cable/wifi)
- Insert your USB stick to the top left USB port on the player. The rest of this guide assumes the USB stick is inserted in this port.
- Open the Settings app
- Open Security settings under the Personal section.
- Make sure the Unknown sources option is enabled. This requires confirmation.
- Open the app launcher

Open the ApkInstaller app.

Press the big blue Install button.

On the left side, navigate to USB Memory, USB_DISK2, udisk0.

Select the APK on the right side.

Press the INSTALL button.
- Once the installation finishes, press the OPEN button.
- Short verification hash is displayed on the screen
- Reboot the player
Setup superuser privileges
If you are asked to grand the superuser privileges for the app follow these instructions:
- Press the GRANT button to grant superuser privileges to signageOS app.
- While in signageOS Core App, press F1 key (or middle mouse button) then open SuperSU app from the menu.
- Press Start.
- Press CANCEL when prompted to update SU binary. Confirm by pressing the OK button.
- Press NO THANKS when prompted to "Follow me".
- While on APPS tab, select signageOS on the left side and make sure the following is set on the right side:
- Access: Grant
- Confirm any changes by pressing the ✓ (check mark) button.
- Go to SETTINGS tab and make sure the following is set:
- Enable superuser ☑ (enabled)
- Re-authentication ☐ (disabled)
- Default access [ Deny ]
- Show notifications ☐ (disabled)
